Wavy routine

Cleansing

On wet hair start off with your non-lathering cleanser(such as sham free hair and scalp cleanser) or a lightweight botanical conditioner(Such as Terms and Conditions) and apply a generous amount of the cleanser to your fingertips, and apply evenly to your scalp.

WE DON’T USE SHAMPOO ON NATURAL HAIR(SHAM=A TRICK OR SOMETHING UNTRUE AND POO=THE BAD STUFF). IT WILL NOT LATHER, THIS IS NORMAL.

Ensure you massage this into your scalp vigorously taking care not to create unnecessary tangles and knots. Remember this is not shampoo and treat it differently, this should be a ritual and not a chore. Play a song in the background and use this as your timer.

THE LATHER FROM SHAMPOO IS VERY STUBBORN AND IT OFTEN TIMES WILL REMAIN IN THE HAIR. THE EXTRA TIME YOU SPEND MASSAGING TO CLEANSE IS THE SAME TIME YOU’D BE SPENDING TO RINSE OUT ALL OF THE NASTY BUBBLES IN SHAMPOO

Rinse thoroughly, as you rinse, ensure you massage your scalp to dislodge any loose dirt particles that may be hiding in your locks, remember your cleanser will be full of the bad stuff so make sure to get it all out!

Hydrating

Take a generous amount of conditioner and apply from mid-length to ends. Using a gentle but firm smoothing motion with your thumb pressing lightly into the hair through to your index and middle finger glide down a section of your hair repeatedly until you feel most of the resistance going, add the odd finger comb from time to time, you’ll soon learn what works best for you

IF YOU HAVE VERY FINE/THIN WAVES, YOU MAY WANT TO SKIP THE CONDITIONER BUT DETANGLE YOUR WAVES WITH YOUR CLEANSER IN THE SAME STYLE

If you have conditioned, rinse out most/all of the conditioner and head to the styling step. If your waves are on the drier or thicker side, you may want to leave more conditioner in.

Defining

Tilt your head upside down, with a t-shirt or a similar material fabric cloth scrunch out as much of the water as you can without rubbing your waves, if you have a dryer hair type, you may want to leave your strands a little wetter to get more definition. Wetter=More definition and Drier=More bounce and body

On wet/damp waves, apply a palmful of gel in a smooth and scrunch fashion by gently grazing over the surfaces of the waves and then scrunching up to your scalp until you hear the squelch of hydration!

IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH DEFINITION AND/OR HOLD, TRY ADDING MORE GEL INTO YOUR HAIR WHEN IT’S HALFWAY DRY IN A GENTLE SCRUNCHING FASHION TO INCREASE THE HOLD.

Drying

Clip your roots using some two prong pin curl clips Pictures to be inserted here soon Diffuse, air dry or dry under a hood dryer.

A diffuser gives you more bounce and body, the latter two will be a softer look. If your waves are especially frizz prone, air drying or a hood dryer may be the better option, for fine waves, diffusing would be best

IF IT’S TOO HOT FOR YOUR SCALP, IT’S TOO HOT FOR YOUR HAIR. DON’T BE AFRAID OF USING GENTLE WARM AIR TO SPEED UP THE DRYING PROCESS!
